WHAT!
I got one 2-inch thick book (titled, "Clinical Malignant Hematology"), two 1-inch books (titled, "Hematology: A Pathophysiological Approach" and "Polycythemia and the Myeloproliferative Disorders"), and about 15 journal articles from my mentor who also demanded that I show up everyday in business casual style and wear a white doctor coat. Dr. Silver also told me to take my time to read all this stuff even if it takes a few days--A FEW DAYS? Is that what physicians mean by taking the time to read? I'm foreign! It'll take me a life time to read all of this! He's lucky I'm speaking English! I'm also supposed to report in his office at 8 a.m., sharp, tomorrow... This man makes me miss Chris already.
My First Day
My mentor and I met about 2.5 hours after we originally planned to meet. First I was late because of the ID thing, then Rob said my mentor would be ready in 20 minutes. Then Rob escorted me to his office where he was still talking to someone, then I waited outside for about an hour. It wasn't too bad though because he has a good project for me lined up. He gave me the whole afternoon off.
I spent free time running around Central Park and tiring out in the heat and humidity. I then tried to cook dinner but found that the burners did not heat up when I turned them on! None of them worked! I went downstairs to see if theirs worked, then found out that I need to turn on a timer on the wall first.
